US Trip Trends: Counters

OK, this is not so much a trend as something I’m super aware of right now. We’re busy planning our stall at the new Market on the Wharf at The V&A Waterfront, which opens on 1 December, and one of the tricky decisions is what our counter should be made of. Marble topped, with raw wood sides? Tongue & groove siding and wooden top, painted Creamery green? Brushed stainless steel top? So I was glad to see so many different counters on my travels, and took lots of photos. Some of my favourites, here:

White granite counter & splashback, Dominique Ansel Bakery, New York
Marble and painted wood, Haven's Kitchen, New York
Reclaimed wood & Corian, Pleasant Pops, DC
Marble & varnished wood, Williams Sonoma, New York
Raw wood, Bklyn Larder, Brooklyn
